Hey Kam :)

Regarding the above, just to clarify... It seems like a few Photoshopped-background entries have already popped up. Is it safe to assume such an embellishment, so long as it don't affect the minifig itself, is kosher? (I understand it's about the fig itself and not the post-effects, but such effects might help in putting said fig in context, stuff like that.) It also seems like text, a more creative layout than just a photo, etc. are options as well.

Very exciting contest, and one that's gotten my juices flowing again? thank you!

Yes you can photoshop a background, but do not alter the figure. Yes, those are options. You can present your figure how you would like, but at the end of the day it is the figure that is being judged. Ultimately NO customization of the figure is allowed, real world or digital customization.

Yes, but that is penalizing yourself a bit. You can resize easily (up or down) in irfanview and it is free. www.irfanview.org I think.

*cough*

I have it pretty much figured out, but everytime I try to put in the 400x400 in the correct area(using GIMP and Irfanview) It automatically adjusts the picture to 601x400. How do I get it to correcting resize?

This is embarrassing

Open design in Irfanview
Ctrl+R
Go to size and enter 400 dpi in whatever the 601 is

Press Enter

Save

Meh, I thought I had it. I guess its all experience

By-the-way, what constitutes as historical? Lets use the example of..eh..
Bill Gates. You can read about him in books, as you said, does that mean his historical? :)

Technically he is historical, because his impact on the world is significant enough for him to be in history books, so yes. However many other might not be.

Nobody's answered my earlier question about whether your person can be a general historical figure eg. a soldier as opposed to a specific historical figure eg. King Me.

Sorry must have missed you question

It has to be a historical figure. You just have to make the figure and post in the correct forum.

The entry thread is up already and has been:

http://www.fineclonier.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=342

You have to make your figure and follow the instructions at the begining of this post. Then display a picture of your figure in the entry thread. MMCB of JP-30 has already given instructions on how to post an image in this very thread.

LegoMan,
I just sent you a message with instructions on how to post pictures. If you still have any problems, email me the information and a link to the picture you want put up and I will do it for you. But please try and work it out yourself first.

Cheers,
MMCB

Can our pics be in black-and-white or sepia?

Cuz that would give it a more historic look. :)

You can post in any picture/Photoshop effect you would like so long as you don't alter the figure.

LEGOMAN, did you figure out your issue?

Are LEGO stickers considered official parts? In other words, could we use LEGO stickers (from a real set's sticker sheet) on a minifig if said sticker wasn't originally intended to be used on a minifig?

No. If it wasn't originally placed on a figure, then NO. That would be customizing.
