and if you are wondering what goes in the the technic bricks holes -> think gray x188

the slopes should be sharper like 66s not 75s, but that would make more problems. SNOT at the wing tips would be hard.
FYI: the vert. blue triangles are SNOT.

enjoy

Kurt: that looks great! Thanks! I really like it. It's very realistic.

Keep going, please! Once you get it topped off, could you please email me the LXF file? I'll throw it in with my model and then work with M-H to get the whole deal ordered.

Again, THANKS!!!

Why does it bow?, it's also 24 studs long, because the hinges are shorted by a 1/2 stud on each side (the two 3794s), so the opening is now only 23 studs.

Note: that I have all of the bend in just two hinges, really angles would be smoothed out, the same amount of bend at each hinge, it's easier to say than to CAD!

ALSO more plates and bricks would have to be added to trap the hinges and 3794s correctly.

The current building design is meant to be fixed and robust. I gave up on the curved front because the idea seemed too delicate. Keep in mind that the elements that make up the curved front are stacked directly on top of each other and the whole stack is ~3 feet tall (this is a lot of weight).

BUT, I like your idea and you've got me thinking. Many thanks for posting it.

I'll mess around with it and see if I can incorporate it into the building model in a "sturdy manner". It really would be good to make it curved and add more realism to the model.

Thanks!

I think it will be VERY sturdy if the hinges and 3794's are trapped correctly.

Kurt: thanks again. It was good to talk to you on the phone about this.

Here's the re-design of the front windows I came up with based on your design. I've "locked" the center two windows and tied them (using a 4x4 plate) back into the main wall of the building.

Most of my hinge plates are black, and the real model will have lt. bley. My jumper 1x2 plates are yellow just to stand out (the real model will have blue jumpers).

This assembly is pretty robust. I'm worried about the model standing the test of time. After we part ways with it, I'm not sure what will happen to it. I'm sure it may get moved and (hopefully) cleaned in the future. If someone grabs or presses inwards on the front, curved window, then it needs to be able to survive a good squeeze.

Just for fun, I took at look at Google Earth at the site. The image is an old one when the building was still under construction:
